Audio Technicians are responsible for setting up any required sound equipment for a recording or live performance. This may include soundboards, microphones, amplifiers, audio lines, monitors and speakers, just to name a few. The type of recording or performance will determine how large of a setup is needed, but Audio Technicians must be comfortable with setting up all common sound equipment. They must also know how to test all the equipment and use it as well. They will be responsible for recording the music or monitoring the sound levels and quality for live performances and need to be able to repair or replace faulty equipment and order new devices when needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Broad knowledge of sound technologies and skilled at problem solving with excellent communication skills and keep up-to-date on the latest developments and trends in the industry. Must be able to FOH mix of up to 8 singers, 10 musicians and 16 tracks of digital playback accompaniment, all with reverb and delay, monitor mix stage and in-ear for up to 8 singers, 10 musicians, 18 dancers and 10 technicians.

 

Must be able to safely climb an A-frame ladder and properly operate a AWP in different heights up to 6 meters (20 feet).

 

Good overall health and physical condition, as on the job you will be required to life or move equipments up to 30kg (65 pounds).

RECOMMENDED CERTIFICATIONS

*Preferably with a Degree of: Sound Engineering, Sound Technology and/or other technical fields.

 

*Preferably with the following Certifications: Pyramind Critical Listening, Signal Flow and Mixing, Harman University Crown DCI, Quickstart to AV Industry, Audio Design/Programming, Audinate Dante Certifications, Rational Acoustics SMAART Operator.

(*) Although not really required, these will significantly improve the candidate’s chances of being hired or promoted on board. These are just recommendations.
