Cruise Staff is the regular name of the position, but some cruise companies give unique names, as Carnival’s Fun Squad. In general, is also know as an Adult Animator or Entertainer. As a Cruise Staff you will be at the heart of everything to do with entertainment on board as you will run, organize and host games, karaoke, quiz shows, bingo and dancing to name but a few. They will have constant communication with guests and ensure the adults on board are having the best time possible while proactively promote and “sell” various entertainment activities to guests on board.

 

This position is also required to dance on all parties, teach dance moves, wear costumes, work during gangway hours and night time activities. Usually, cruise companies look towards people with a lot of energy, excellent interpersonal skills, extrovert personality and able to speak loud without a microphone, although on most cases there will be a microphone available.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The ability to capture and manage the attention of a large group of people using effective and courteous microphone techniques, preferably with one to two years being a master of ceremonies or professional entertainment (theatre, music, dance, comedy, etc.) experience with resorts, cruise lines, entertainment or recreational industries is preferred. Excellent verbal and written command of the English language, knowledge of another language(s) is a plus. Cruise lines seek out for Spanish, German, French and Chinese speakers.

 

You’re also required to act professional at all times, be courteous to fellow guests and crew, and be presentable, meaning that on most cruise lines, you’re not allowed to have different haircuts, hair colors, piercings or visible tattoos.
