Photographers are in charge of taking pictures of guests during several occasions and events during the cruise, and of selling them in the Photo Gallery. The perfect candidate is capable of working under stress and with a proven track record of experiences as professional photographer. Outgoing personality, courtesy, sales-oriented attitude and superior customer service complete the description.Previous experience as photographer on board cruise vessels is desirable but not really needed.

 

Photographers on board may also be required to dress up in costumes in order to attract cruise passengers to take more pictures generating more options along the cruise to be later chosen to be bought (although in some companies this role is made by other positions on their free time as a way of earning some extra cash).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must have excellent command of the English language (both spoken and written) as you must direct pre-set poses to the passengers on board, so a detail-oriented person is more able to direct orders. Degree or course in photography OR relative experience required, as an online portfolio will be required (most companies accept Flickr, 500px, Instagram or personal websites). Image processing and printing experience is a plus but not really needed, as in case of not proficient with processing and printing the ship photographer must demonstrate willingness to learn by sitting regularly in the lab with senior photographers, the photo lab technician or the Photo Manager. The photographer must be passionate for photography, customer service orientated and feeling comfortable in dealing with passengers on a daily basis, and as well as assisting with their choices and recommending products.

RECOMMENDED CERTIFICATIONS

Adobe Photoshop proficiency, Darkroom Software and experience with Batch editing is a plus and valuable in order to acquire a promotion.

 

Fluent in a second language is preferred.
