Job Description:
The LES Technician (sometimes referred as Lounge Technician or in combinations as LES/Video or LES/Lights, etc.) is responsible for safely and effectively operating mostly audio, but also, lighting, and video systems in secondary lounges for all scheduled shows and activities. Additionally, the LES Technician serves as an emergency backup for the Audio and Lighting Technician and may occasionally operate audio or lights for production shows in the main theater. They are also tasked with cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring proper functioning of all audio, lighting, and video systems in all secondary venues across the vessel.
Required skills:
General knowledge of professional audio equipment operation and maintenance procedures, including digital and analog audio consoles. Basic understanding of show control and time code distribution, as well as digital audio recording systems. Familiarity with electrical theory and the ability to read electrical and system drawings and diagrams. Basic knowledge of lighting console operation (GrandMA2, GrandMA3, ETC preferred) and lighting instruments. General understanding of projection operation and PC hardware/software maintenance and repair.
Proficient troubleshooting skills with basic repair abilities, including crimping and soldering connectors. Ability to safely climb an A-frame ladder and operate a Genie lift.
Comfortable working in a dynamic theater environment with different shows requiring different setups and pre-checks. Friendly, professional, self-motivated individual with excellent English verbal skills and the ability to communicate fluently in show-running environments. Good overall health and physical condition, able to lift/move up to 22kgs (50 pounds).
Recommended skills:
Preferably, candidates should hold a degree in Electrics, Electronics, Audio Production, Lights Technology, or other technical fields. Highly recommended certifications aligned with career goals: Harman Core, Q-SYS Audio Certifications, GrandMA2 and/or GrandMA3 certifications.
Although not required, having these certifications greatly improves a candidate’s likelihood of landing a job in any company or even getting promoted on board.
