Job Description:
As a Junior Disc Jockey / Host DJ, you will act as both DJ and Event Host, where you’ll set the stage for an unforgettable time on board! From lively deck parties to themed nights in the nightclub, you’ll lead the charge in creating a high-energy atmosphere guests will love. Shadow a Pro DJ, sharpen your equipment skills, and get the crowd moving. You’ll manage events like Bingo and Deal or No Deal, host engaging trivia, and DJ weddings. Cruise companies are seeking charismatic personalities who will thrive on interactions and can keep it up from day to night. Cruise companies look out for energetic individuals with a flair for entertainment, a strong sense of time management, and adaptability. Essential skills include intermediate-level microphone handling, English fluency, and a background in DJing across multiple genres, such as Latin, Caribbean, Top 40, Hip-Hop, and Motown. Knowledge of Serato and DJ equipment (like Rane, Pioneer, Shure) is a must, as is familiarity with basic troubleshooting on both DJ peripherals and MacBook Pro. Showmanship and an ability to read the crowd are vital, as is a knack for selecting age and venue-appropriate tracks.
Applicants should be team-oriented, eager to learn, and capable of wearing many hats as both DJ and event host, displaying enthusiasm and an outgoing personality throughout hosted activities and events. Prior experience in hosting or emceeing events at resorts, weddings, or cruise ships is preferred. You should also have an understanding of Microsoft Office for organizing playlists, schedules, and coordinating event information.
Recommended skills:
Candidates with prior experience in high-energy hosting or emcee roles will thrive in this role. Knowledge of current music trends and improvisational skills will enhance the guest experience. Familiarity with additional tech like lighting and sound systems, or experience working with large and diverse crowds, will set you apart.
