Cunard Line
Cunard Line is a prestigious british cruise operator with a heritage dating back to 1840, when it was founded by Samuel Cunard as the British and North American Royal Mail Steam-Packet Company. Renowned for its “White Star Service,” the line is the only operator in the world that continues to offer regular scheduled transatlantic crossings between Southampton and New York, with formal dress codes, grand ballrooms, and traditional afternoon tea served by white-gloved waiters. In 1998, Cunard Line was acquired by the Carnival Corporation.
While the brand is synonymous with luxury for its guests, post pandemic feedback from crew members paints a picture of a demanding professional environment. In the galley and restaurant departments, the intensity of maintaining the line’s rigorous service protocols are taken to some extremes, very different from other cruise lines, not to mentioned the challenges of being on fast but outdated ships, specially when compared to the sister brands of Carnival Corporation.
